Picture
Stephan Salvia, MSN, FNP-BC received his Bachelors of Science in Nursing through Chamberlain College of Nursing. He worked for many years in the Surgical ICU at Brookhaven
Memorial Hospital Medical Center, where he developed his skills in the critical care of neurologically ill patients. He quickly became a valuable resource and took on more roles including team leader and precepting new nurses.

Stephan’s love for medicine grew and he furthered his education by pursuing his Masters in Science of Nursing. He graduated from the Nurse Practitioner Program at Stony Brook University. Stephan specialized in neurosurgery and worked in extremely busy practice for several years. He additionally completed a First Assistant Program through National Institute of First Assisting, which allowed him to have hands on involvement in very complex surgical procedures. He was able to independently evaluate and care for some of the most challenging cases in neurosurgery including open brain surgery, brain aneurysms and stroke.

Stephan’s love for teaching also lead him to accept a position at Stony Brook University Medical Center as an adjunct professor for the Nurse Practitioner Program. In that capacity, he educated many Advanced Practice Providers and prepared them for their future careers.

Stephan was recruited to The Stroke and Brain Aneurysm Center of Long Island initially as a Neuro Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider. He became well versed in the management of neurological emergencies in the ICU and further refined his procedural skills dealing with brain aneurysm and stroke patients.
He is a key member of the Advanced Practice Provider service that offers complex clinical care for our patients. He is in charge of our center's prospective monthly neurovascular quality improvement conference and participates in the clinical trials executed in our facility.

Stephan is one of the most experienced and talented Advanced Practice Providers in the area of neurosurgical procedures. He oversees our extensive educational and quality initiatives and ensures appropriate management of our patients throughout the continuum of their care.
