Picture
Amanda Mirchel, PA-C, MPA-S graduated from Rutgers University with distinction. She subsequently completed her studies as a physician assistant at Touro college. She has several years of experience in the management of critical surgical patients as an advanced practice provider in trauma and orthopedics, followed by neurosurgery. Amanda quickly became a resource for her fellow advanced practice providers in our center and treated several patients with brain aneurysms and stroke in the emergency setting.

While a member of the neurosurgical service for several years she led the quality initiatives in that department that ensured the recognition of our center as the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Suffolk County certified by The Joint Commission and the New York State Department of Health. Amanda was able to single handedly manage critically ill patients, see new consults and perform procedures in one of the busiest neurosurgical services on Long Island. After several years of excellence in clinical care of neurosurgical patients, Amanda focused on her passion of teaching as an Instructor and Academic coordinator for Touro college.

She was recruited back to our center, this time as an advanced practice provider in neurovascular neurosurgery, given her unique skillset and dedication. She is a key member of the the advanced practice provider service that offers complex clinical care for our patients. She is in charge of our center's prospective monthly neurovascular quality improvement conference and participates in the clinical trials executed in our facility.

Amanda is one of the most experienced and talented advanced practice providers in the area of emergent stroke and brain aneurysm care. She oversees our extensive educational and quality initiatives and ensures appropriate management of our patients throughout the continuum of their care. She has been key in the development of this unique center.
